Grote bosmuis (Apodemus flavicollis) Yellow-necked Mouse

 De grote geelhansbosmuis (Apodemus flavicollis) of grote bosmuis is ontdekt op de NoordwestVeluwe.
Waarschijnlijk ook in het Zandendos waar de Bijen-Natuurtuin onderdeel van is.
Het dier staat op de rode lijst van beschermde diersoorten.
Ze leven graag in loofboombossen.  Planten zich voort van het voorjaar tot in de herfst. De voorjaarsjongen hebben in de herfst vaak zelf weer jongen.
Ze leven van plantaardig voedsel en klimmen daarvoor moeiteloos in bomen. Ze worden nooit veel ouder dan één jaar. De meesten sterven in de winter.
Ook in de tuin hebben we ons enige tijd geleden afgevraagd welke bijzondere muizensoort er toch leefde. We zijn er nooit achter gekomen. Rechts van de ingang aan de Zandenboslaan, ergens achter de houtstapel  had die muis zijn leefgebied.

The Yellow-necked Mouse (Apodemus flavicollis)  was discovered on the northwest Veluwe. Probably in the Zandendos where the Bijen-Natuurtuin part.The animal is a protected species.Their habitat is deciduous forest. They multiply in the spring to autumn. The kid, born in the spring, in autumn itself have kids. They live on plant foods. Easily they climb in trees, for nuts. They live about 1 year. Most die in the winter. In the garden some time ago, we wondered what kind of special mice lived there. We never found out.
